This arrangement of Elton John's 1973 classic Bennie and the Jets leans heavily into the dragging groove of the song that made it so popular on the R&B charts at the time. The first two verses stick largely to the original whilst sharing the melody amongst all players, but the extended middle section of the song is replaced by an alternative section that develops the ideas of the verse and chorus, before a quick reprise of a fragment of the verse melody played wistfully on the cello to end.
