Alan Bullard's Prelude No 8 is a set piece for Trinity College London Grade 7 Piano exam. Printed in the TCL exam book for 2021-23, it now continues to be valid as an alternative piece for the exams from 2024 onwards.Selected from Bullard's Twelve or Thirteen Preludes for Piano, Set One (major keys), also available from this site, this prelude is a lively and rhythmic study in changing time-signatures in which the quaver remains constant throughout, leading to a freely shaped arpeggio followed by a throw-away ending.A YouTube search will find several recordings, and the one linked to here is the composer's own. There is also an orchestral version, made by the composer, to be found on YouTube.
