Product Description

Amy Beach (1867-1944) was a virtuoso pianist, and the first female composer in the United States to garner success in her native country and abroad. She began her composition career at the age of four, and made her public debut as soloist at seven. She was prolific, producing over 150 works of various genres, including chamber works, concertos, songs, and large-scale orchestral and choral works. She also wrote volumes of music for solo piano, which are still in print today. 'Bal Masqué' ("The Masked Ball"), started off as a charming work for solo piano, composed in 1894, and reflects Beach's early style; she orchestrated this work in preparation for her famous 'Gaelic Symphony' and the musical colours really come to life - this arrangement for concert band has been prepared from the chamber orchestra engraving by Chris A. Trotman (Women's Philharmonic Advocacy) and as part of an initiative to bring more music by women into the worldwide band repertoire.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
