Product Description
It is important to introduce piano students to scales, chords, and arpeggios early in their course of study. By practicing the patterns in this book, students will recognize and be able to play the scale, chord, and arpeggio patterns when they encounter them in more advanced music.
The scales introduced in this book are one-octave scales in the major keys of C, G, D, A, E, F, B, and E. Each scale is introduced in hands-separately patterns, followed by hands-together patterns. Included with each scale is a theory section that asks for the keys tonic, sub-dominant, and dominant notes and corresponding chords. These primary chords are shown on the staff as a common cadence, giving students the opportunity to become comfortable with reading them and playing them.
Also included are several improvisating and tranposing exercises that will give students the tools needed to perform with confidence.
