On the Wayside was commissioned as a debut work for the Metro Voices Choir; an all-female led SSAA a cappella group built off the foundational Alexandria Harmonizers. The work encapsulates the idea that we must always continue to move forward in life and leave the people and issues in our lives that cause us grief on the wayside. It is meant to invoke a sense of personal power and triumph for all who adhere to its message.
