Product Description

Veteran film composer Jerry Goldsmith (who also wrote the scores for Planet of the Apes, Patton, Alien, Gremlins, Total Recall, The Mummy - and many more...) was Oscar nominated for his work on 'POLTERGEIST' but lost out to John Williams for 'E.T. the Extra Terrestrial'. This lullaby theme for the film's young protagonist, Carol Anne, has a simple hymn-like quality representing the blissful suburban life at the beginning of the story (a version with lyrics exists called 'Bless This House' sung by a children's choir). The film has continued to receive recognition 40 years after its release: it was selected by The New York Times as one of The Best 1000 Movies Ever Made. It also received recognition from the American Film Institute, with a number 84 ranking on AFI's 100 Years...100 Thrills list; "They're here" was named the 69th-greatest movie quote on AFI's 100 Years...100 Movie Quotes. Perfect as an alternative choice for a Hallowe'en concert, or a celebration of cinema - features lovely solos for cor anglais (cued for horn).
