This popular carol is set to the hymn tune "Irby," penned in 1849 by English organist Henry J. Gauntlett (1805-1876). Since the beginning of the tune resembles another even more popular carol, I have included a couple of nods to it in this setting for brass sextet (standard quintet plus a second trombone).
