Bach harmonized a Lutheran hymn that was barrowed from a 1529 French melody. The text was based on Matthew 6:10. Section A exposits the hymn. Section B is preceeded by a modulation to a new key with the aid of a French augmented sixth chord. A descant by yours truly is then added. The work ends on a Picardy third.
