A fun arrangement of Charles Mingus' "Boogie Stop Shuffle" in the string-friendly key of D minor.  The parts feature a reasonable tessitura for all players, although the suggested tempo and angularity of the main melody may present a challenge.  Suggested bowings are also included.

Intended for string orchestra plus jazz drum set for added rhythmic drive, this chart requires a minimum of 4 violinists, 2 violists, 1 cellist, and 1 upright bassist (playing arco), although larger groups will better capture the spirit of the composition, particularly the rumbling boogie bass-line.  All double-stops are meant to be played divisi.

The solo section is a 12-bar D minor blues- less experienced improvisers should be able to navigate using either the D minor pentatonic or D minor blues scale with ease, while more advanced players may desire to experiment with more colorful tensions.
