Product Description

This brass band piece takes its inspiration from a walk in the Swiss hills, around the "Creux du Van", famous for its cliffs in a horseshoe shape and its stunning views. Each part is associated to one of the footpaths starting from « La ferme Robert », that can be followed at https://s.geo.admin.ch/9edeacde61.

  • A1 and A2 « Le chemin de la Fontaine Froide »
The majesty of the surroundings and the cliffs leaves a deep impression on the walker who climbs up the forest path.
  • B « Le sentier du Single »
This challenging path leads to the top of the cliffs.
  • C « Le sentier du bord du cirque Chamois et bouquetins »
First glimpse of the horseshoe cliffs from above, and opportunity to meet chamois and ibex, that appreciate this place far from the tourists.
  • D « Falaises »
The solo musicians' dialogue recalls the echo between the cliffs.
  • E « Le Soliat »
A peacefull place with a good view on the Alps in the distance.
  • F « Le sentier du bord du cirque »
The theme of part C is repeated in maestoso to underline the majesty of the spot.
  • G « Le sentier du Creux-du-Van Descente »
  • H « Le sentier du Creux-du-Van Le Dos dâne »
  • I « Le sentier des Quatorze Contours »
A delicate passage for the walker and the musician, who needs to be wary not to fall while playing the measures in 7/8 that recall the number of corners in the path.
  • J « Le sentier du Creux-du-Van »
The finale that brings the walker back to his starting point.
