Product Description

Cinq Danses Français Anciennes (Five Old French Dances)

III. La Matelotte

Arranged clarinet in Bb and piano

Marin Marais (1656 1728) was a French composer and viol player at the royal court of Versailles. His most famous works are his five books of Pièces de Viole, from which these pieces are taken.

The Five Old French Dances were first presented as a single edition in the early twentieth century, arranged for viola and piano by Maud E Aldis and Louis T Rowe.

This is transcription of IV La Matelotte (The Sailor).

The pieces in the set are as follows

L'Agréable
La Provençale
La Musette
La Matelotte
Le Basque

I have also arranged them for wind quintet.
My wind quintet arrangement of each piece features a different member of the quintet:

No 5 Le Basque is also arranged for horn quartet.
