This is the World Premiere live recording of William Hawley's madrigal "Dolcissimi colori" from Seven Madrigals, in the original key for ATBar.B voices, composed for the vocal ensemble Chanticleer in 1986. All seven live recordings from the World Premiere are available individually on this site as separate downloads by title, as is the original complete autograph ms score. The ms score and World Premiere recordings are distinct from Hawley's Six Madrigals, published in 1996 in the standard Hinshaw Music octavo edition by title, which constitute arrangements by the composer for SATB voices of the first six of the original seven madrigals. All seven madrigals are settings of the lyric poetry of the 16th-Century Italian poet Torquato Tasso. This is the original order of madrigals in performance:I. Vita de la mia vitaII. Ore, fermate il voloIII. Io v'amo sol perchè voi siete bellaIV. Siepe, che gli orti vaghiV. Dolcissimi coloriVI. Io son la primaveraVII. Mentre angoscia e doloreThe Audio Sample is the first half-minute of the recording. ASCAP https://williamhawley.net
