This theme, written by the ever compositionally elegant Yoko Kanno, is tied throughout the series to the protagonists memory of a love long gone. Originally scored for celeste, Reeces piano arrangement begins close to the original setting, but then continues to develop naturally through subsequent iterations of the melody, with the final pass in canon, suggesting that memory is a mere echo of reality. The bridge is an homage to a hypothetical influence on Kannos the original theme, Duke Ellington.
