The song became instantly popular, with its beautiful soaring melodies and lyrics about finding true love ("la vie en rose" translates directly to "life in pink," or more loosely "life through rose-colored glasses"). This tune was a breath of fresh air for those entering life after World War II, and it remains very popular today for weddings, proposals, and receptions -- so you can't go wrong having this one in your gig books!
