Product Description

The Coventry Carol is an Olde English Carol dating back to the 16th Century where it was part of a larger work known as, The Pageant of the Shearman and Tailors. This carol depicts the mothers tearful song as they weep for the loss of their children. The play is based on the Christmas Story as depicted in the Gospel of Matthew. Specifically the part of the story where King Herod orders the death of all male infants under the age of two, in an act known as the Massacre of the Innocents.
