Another Nocturne, this one in jazz ballad style. In retrospect, it seems to be inspired by both Thelonious Monk and Wayne Shorterthus, the title. I say "in retrospect" because I originally composed it in the late 1990s as a part of an intermediate-level piano book released by Oxford University Press (Eight Funky Etudes), and now out of print. In revising it, I understood where it came fromMonk and Shorter.
