Product Description

During his studies in New York, Víkingur Ólafsson became aware of the works of Jean-Philippe Rameau, which immediately fascinated him. Here the Icelandic pianist Rameaus interprets "Le Rappel des Oiseaux", which is part of his album "Debussy - Rameau".

As the dreamy prélude comes to a close, the curtains are raised to reveal the dusky forest home of Rameaus birds. What ensues are lively scenes from his extraordinarily inventive Suite in E minor. The birds are calling ("Le Rappel des oiseaux"). "As extraordinary innovators of both harmony and form, with a unique ear for colour and a keen sense of the theatrical, both Rameau and Debussy wrote music which engages more senses than just that of hearing." - Víkingur Ólafsson.

Intermediate.
Format: Concert,  9 x 12 inches.
