Product Description

Shrimp Salad based on Beethovens Minuet in G is a short (under 2 minute) piece blending surf-rock and straight-ahead jazz with some Blues thrown in for good measure.

The piece starts with a call-and-response pattern, with major statements alternating with bluesy responses.

The contrasting middle section (the Trio in Baroque music parlance) begins at m. 14 with the bassoon playing a jazz walking bass line accompanying a lightly swung bebop phrasing of the melody.

The return of the opening section (m. 25) features a slightly varied accompaniment with some sly quotes and a bit of medieval hocket style. A trilled pedal point underpins the suspenseful Coda before bringing the movement to a bright quick close.
