The text is a translation of the old Latin Hymn Te Lucis Ante Terminum. A new melody has been created with three part harmonies working in similar motion. An optional Soprano descant (as heard in this recording) can be added for the last verse. This piece is ideally sung at the end of a program of sacred music.
