Dykes was a 19th Century British hymnist and vicar. It's set for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services. It is found in Lutheran hymnals as well as Anglican. Section a features the hymn. A modualtion to a new key is initiatedby an augmented sixth chord (French 6th). Section B is the hymn in a new key with a descant added by yours truly. The work ends on a Picardy third.
