Keane's driving rock ballad was the first single released from their album Hopes and Fears. It was covered by Lily Allen in 2013, but this arrangement takes the original version as its primary reference. The obvious arranging choice might have been to use vocables to recreate the constant pulsating quavers that propel the musical narrative, but I found as I worked through it that using the lyrics to create most of the accompaniment offered singers more to work with in terms of finding the sense of inner emotional emergency that the piano generates in the original. N.B. This arrangement is notated in the clef's for women's barbershop, i.e. treble (sung at pitch) and bass alta (sung an octave higher than written) Vocal ranges: Tenor: F4 - D5 Lead: A3 - C5 Bari: A3 - A4 Bass: D3 - G4
