This haunting and powerful melody from the musical "Chess" comes to the brass ensemble repertoire in the guise of a cornet solo. This is heard at the close of Act 1, when the mob of reporters ambush Anatoly (the Russian) and ask why he is deserting his country, he tells them that he will never truly leave his homeland. This arrangement was made for Cliff Pask and the Redbridge Brass Band, performed as part of their programme for the 2015 Butlins Brass Band Championships and also exists in Brass Band format.
