The Open Road is an 8 page intermediate level piece in G mixolydian. It is the title track from my album 'The Open Road', a collection of 14 of my solo piano compositions. From the moment that this piece first appeared in my consciousness, it felt like an invitation to adventure, to meet unexpected twists and turns, and to stay in even, steady motion while doing so. My friend Tim Shellmers photo on the cover of The Open Road beautifully embodies this invitation.
