This is based on a poem by a friend who lived in Blue Boar quad (Christ Church Oxford)
and lamented the fact he had to stay in and study while he was actually looking forward
to taking his girlfriend out punting on the river.
"Today was a summery Saturday
a day for reading Rabelais
a day to laze your cares away
except the one that's here to stay
Today has been a symphony in green
a menthol flavoured dream
a menthol flavoured dream
The sky came right on cue
dressed in blue boar blue
and an Eton boater
Now the weather's being kind
There's thought of punting on my mind
there's thought of punting on my mind
but the punt was made for two
and the number two is you
I know you'll be here "soon enough"
but "soon enough" is never soon enough!
Got your visit all planned out
theatres picnics booked your room
and while I wait the summer turns to blue
Blue Boar Blue.
I know this is the way it's got to be
Until you're free to be with me,
until you're free to be with me
but it makes me sad it's true
it turns me Blue Boar Blue!
Blue Boar Blue!
