The story and ballet follows three gay friends and their adventures and misadventures through the ancient Roman world, satirizing everything from love, to extreme wealth and many personality types  of this time in the southern Italian peninsula.  Act 1 includes:  Riot in the Forum, Lost in Town, Pas de Deux (Enclopius and Giton), Off to the Country,  Romantic Liaisons, Dance of the Prostitutes, Dance of the Odd Youth, and the Act 1 Finale:  The Soldiers and the Prostitutes.
