Product Description

Meredith Willson, best known for The Music Man and Its Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas, wrote music for many genres from classical symphonies to popular songs, some of which are considered standards today. His chart Chicken Fat was re-recorded and used in the iPhone 5S television commercials in 2014. The Peony Bush has an interesting backstory. In the early 1940s, The Van Wert (north-western Ohio) Womans Club would invite famous people to speak to the assembly. It is believed that after learning that Van Wert had a huge peony cultivation festival running since the early 1900s, Meredith wrote this song. One of the first recordings was in 1949 by Danny Kaye; the orchestration was for winds, brass, percussion, and piano. This arrangement for brass band gives your 1st baritone player a chance to shine as the tender ballad singer Danny Kaye and gives your principal cornet player the opportunity to counter with the gravellier voice sounds of Louis Armstrong. Its great for recitals, spring concerts, concerts in parks, and other occasions. Duration ~3:45. 36 Pages
