A very talented English composer, born in Paddington (London), George Butterworth (1885 - 1916) is known for some of his orchestral pieces, notably his trilogy "English idylls N°1; 2" and "The Banks of green Willow". In his compositions he uses folk tunes which he is able to enhance with extremely colourful orchestrations. This arrangement for Concert Band is made from the symphonic score of "English Idylls No. 1".
