Product Description

Opus/Catalog Number: ICG 213, No. 7, Movement 4
Key/Tone: F Major
Movements/Sections: Adagio
Year/Date of Composition: 1877
Difficulty: Grade 2/12 (Easy)
Obs.: This piece is the fourth of five movements in Gounod's Messe brève no. 7 Aux chapelles. It was originally published in 1877 in a version for two equal voices with organ. In 1890, Gounod rearranged it for soli, four-part mixed choir and organ and added the words Aux chapelles to the title.
This beautiful piece opens with solo female voices singing a quiet and meditative melody which is then continued by the four-part choir. It is worth noting that this O Salutaris Hostia replaces the Benedictus of the original 1877 version for two equal voices with organ.
Included: Full score and separated parts for each voice/instrument.
