Product Description

This is a 3-part chamber arrangement of the beautiful "Qui tollis" movement from Haydn's Mass in Time of War. The original featured a marvelous cello solo, bass solo, orchestra and chorus. This version retains the virtuoso cello part and transfers the bass solo to viola, and reduces the other parts to the piano. One of the great appeals of this arrangement is that the typical ranges of the two string players are reversed, with the cello part placed well above the viola's. This arrangement enables cellists to perform this piece in recital. It also provides viola players a new opportunity to expand their limited repertoire. A larger arrangement including a string quartet accompaniment is also available. The pdf is best printed as an "Image" or using Preview.
