Product Description

Saxophone Quartet (SATB)

Since Robert Burns wrote the words of Auld Lang Syne in 1788, it has become a standard feature of New Year celebrations, Burns nights, and the closing stages of almost every ceilidh dance and wedding in Burns’ native Scotland. This arrangement by Scottish clarinettist, saxophonist and arranger, Hugh Levey, is for Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone saxes. It is written in a key (concert F major) which is suitable for community or solo singing. Full lyrics for all five verses are included with the programme notes.

It opens with 'bagpipe' drones which accompany a short introduction of the melodic material by Tenor Sax, before Soprano and Alto take over the tune with the drone accompaniment. The final verse is written in a rich 4 part harmony to provide a majestic ending for the popular work.

Duration - 1’ 58" for 2 verses. Approximately 5’ for all five verses
