Fields of Gold is a song written and performed by English musician Sting. It first appeared on his fourth studio album, Ten Summoners Tales in 1993. The song was released as a single. It is one of his most famous songs. The lyrics describe the beauty of the summertime fields of barley surrounding his house in England. There is some primal feeling about the wind moving over the shimmering surface, like waves on an ocean of gold. It is a wistful love song, a peaceful ballad that ranks it as a classic. The music has been beautifully arranged for brass quintet by John Frith.
