Product Description
An Indian Sea-side is a Picture Piece, a piece with a story or an image. It is written for young late elementary level piano students, to be taught with a combination of rote and reading. Young students love using the sustain pedal and listen more carefully when they hear the resonance. Those who dont have a pedal extension could stand and play this piece.
The The first 3 sections of the piece are piano solos - The tide recedes, Crabs run around on the sand, A bird tries to catch a crab. The last is The walk of the elephants, a piano duet. More on this in 'About An Indian Sea-Side'.
I hope this Picture Piece encourages young piano students to visualise when they play - seeing images, a movie or even telling a story of whats happening. Students can improvise if their story needs more music, using notes from a 5 finger scale or playing a tune with any 2 white keys. Or using the black keys. Its their imaginary story, so anything is possible!
