Product Description

With his Flute Sonata, Dr. Milner has written something unique, a contemporary piece that is beautifully lyrical and  accessible - ideal for flute.  Written for his Daughter-in-Law in 2003, this Sonata is perfect for intermediate to advanced  flute players.  The second movement, Siciliana, also works well as a stand-alone recital piece and can be played either  on Alto Flute as written or on C-flute.  This sonata is a great addition to the collection of flute performance pieces.

William Milner holds the degree of D.M.A. in Composition from the Peabody Conservatory of Music. Composition teachers  include Nadia Boulanger. He taught music in Baltimore City Schools and later served as Assistant Supervisor of Music. In  1983, Dr. Milner retired as professor and chairman of the music department of the Community College of Baltimore. His  compositional output includes the New Century March for symphonic band, Sonata for Two Cellos and Piano, Sonata for  Flute, Fantasy on Jewish themes for viola and piano, and the opera Sweet River, composed for the Nations bicentennial  celebration in 1976.
