Javier Martinez-Ramirez is a Mexican composer and choral conductor. El Canto del Poeta took second prize Fourth National Contest of Choral Composition in Mexico in 2001. The text is from poetry by Tecayehuatzin, Lord of Huexotzinco (15th century). It was premiered in U.S. by Pacific Edge Voices (2018).
