"The Seabirds of Saint-Servan" is a piece I wrote for the 2020 University of British Columbia Chan Centre for the Performing Arts Brass Quintet Fanfares Series. Inspired by the music of medieval community brass bands, this short piece is a fun folk-like dance in which each of the 5 instruments' lines are viewed as separate and equally important melodies. Your listeners will have fun trying to keep track of all of the different interlocking melodies, and I hope you have fun playing them!
