Product Description

Folksongs are traditional songs of the people, that have been culturally ingrained into civilisation. This arrangement of Scarborough Fair, a well-known English folksong, is the first in my Folksong Echoes Series, which attempts to re-imagine traditional folksongs in a more fragmented, but still beautiful way. I use the term fragmented because it is essentially the main approach to these arrangements. You will hear glimpses of the tune in the form of melodic motifs, clusters, and sustained resonances, which are beautifully imagined through the sustain pedal of the piano. Overall, these fragments make up echoes which allude to the concept of something being there but also not quite being there, a bit like the pieces that make up a jigsaw puzzle.
