Gradualia is a collection of works for a variety of forces - solo voice with accompaniment, chorus to large ensemble - setting the English proper antiphon texts of the Catholic Mass. Using a simplified harmonic language and the traditional alternation of Antiphon - Psalm verse form, the works from the series ennoble a liturgical service.
Liturgically, I Am The Good Shepherd / Ego Sum Pastor Bonus is the Communion Antiphon for the Fourth Sunday of Easter as well as the 25th Sunday of Ordinary Time and is appropriate for funerals, and various other uses. Text from John 10:14 and the 23rd Psalm.
This setting exists in three versions: 1) solo voice and organ; 2) solo voice, SATB, and organ; and 3) solo voice, SATB, strings, and organ.
