Some consider this prelude of Debussy to be an important turning point in Debussys impressionistic style. À la manière de la neige translates to "in the style of the snow" or, loosely speaking in musical terms, "After the snow" - a literal reference to Debussys work.

The work is of an advanced level, for the careful pedaling and intentional choreography of the hands and fingers are required to create the impression of three hands playing three distinct lines.
