This is an attractive piano solo which should prove useful for the Young Pianist as an introduction to
something more demanding harmonically. Persistant use of Major 7th chords, and 9ths going upwards in thirds express the vastness of the Night sky. The repetitive rhythmic part in the LH,
sets the scene for a reeling feeling described by a rapid glissando and a bluesy RH passage, and after another tune in the RH, there is a return to a tune which was plain near the beginning, but is now slower and slightly decorated. Then there is a return to the atmospheric 11 bar opening,
where we are provided with a satisfactory and effective ending. Grade 5-6 (ABRSM)
