On the 31st March 2018, a blue moon took place for the last time until October 2020. It's a wonderful sight viewing a full moon in all it's splendour and this commemorates such an event. Although it may not be as spectacular event as a meteor shower or a solar eclipse, it does lend itself to it's own wonder. The atmosphere of this piece is very calm and serene. The rising and fall of the harmony and dynamics can be taken as the waxing and waning of the moon; reaching it's peak on the recap of the theme until eventually ebbing away.
Pedalling is crucial in this piece and the performer must use their discretion as some harmonies fit well enough into one another to keep holding the pedal but the harmony must not become jarring. Connecting the melody line will be a challenge but it needs to be played with as little detachment as possible. The piece is roughly 2.30
