Product Description
John Milton wrote the words, based on Psalm 136, at the age of 15. The psalm is a litany of praise and thanksgiving for Gods goodness to Israel.
The poem originally had 24 verses - including these lines: And large-limbed Og he did subdue, with all his over-hardy crew. Most modern hymnbooks reduce the poem to 6 or 7 verses!
This version was first performed in 2011 at the Sheldon Centre, Dunsford, Devon. http://www.sheldon.uk.com
The mp3 recording extract is taken from a CD made in August 2012 by the Langford Singers, conducted by the composer, with pianist Andrew Daldorph.
