Though the comedic text and music are more common, this public domain tune and story are arranged here to dramatically tell the tragic story of a young man whose life as an adult was just beginning when he was struck by a poisonous serpent as he mowed a field alone. Choirs will love the wistful melody and harmonies found in this rich arrangement of a piece of colonial history.
