This is an historical piece based on early American folk tunes (18th century) - "Yankee Doodle" and two songs by an obscure composer named Dusuel from 1780 - "La Voltaire" and "La Franklein" - that chronicles the meeting of Benjamin Franklin and Voltaire in Paris in 1778 at the Academy of Sciences, the premiere intellectual gathering place in Paris at the time.
