Product Description

' C'est Mon Beau Chapeau' has a French title but the lyrics are in English. This is a solo sung by the leading character in the new musical titled 'Just Mary' which is based on the life of Mary Grannan, who was recently declared a National Historic Person of Canada in recognition of her pioneer work at CBC from 1939 to 1962 in the field of writing children's programs for radio and television, the most notable being the television program, "Maggie Muggins", which aired in the 1950s.
'Cest Mon Beau Chapeau' is sung by Mary Grannan shortly after she arrives at the CBC studios in Toronto in 1939, and establishes her as a strong personality perfectly able to "wear the hat" of a writer and producer in a workplace which is largely dominated by men. The musical, 'Just Mary', now in the process  of being written, will be suitable for performances by high school and community theatre groups for a general audience. The musical is scored for piano or keyboard accompaniment but is also suitable for instrumental combos. Further information about the musical may be obtained by contacting Helen or Alastair MacCulloch at The Optimistic Music Company by email, at lenmac8@telus.net or by phone at 604-922-3048.
