Product Description
Sonata for trumpet and piano in B flat (2017), dedicated to the American
trumpet player Robert Chambers, is a compact composition with a light
Postmodern touch, developing well-known American tunes in its outer
movements (the first in sonata form, the finale in variations) and a
ritualistic Romanian carol in its central, repetitive movement (a
"popular fughetta"), as a gesture of international friendship.
The movements' titles are: "Thus Spake the Common Man", "Romanian Christmas Carol", and "The World of the Free". Besides the USA National Anthem as basis for the variations in the finale, it includes a few half tongue-in-cheek allusions to well-known works by Richard Strauss and Aaron Copland. The mp3 audio clip is the first movement (Allegro con brio). Total duration: 15 min.
