The Purpose of my music is to mythologize the world around us: to not only signify
but make significant the experience of life. In doing so, I attempt to reach beyond what can
be described in words, to the transcendent and spiritually profound, and to take the
listener with me. Mine is not music to be analyzed, but experienced.
The art Kulning is the practice in rural Norway and Sweden of singing high pitched
melodies to call livestock herds down from the high mountains where they would graze.
The songs can be unique to an individual, but are often family based so that the animals
know the specific melody of their owners' calls. Though disappearing, these haunting melodies
can still be heard today in parts of the Scandinavian countryside, and imbue the land with a
sacred tone.
