Product Description

"2017 Choral Contest Entry" To a Star is scored SATB divsi acapella. Original music inspired by the poem of the same name by 16 year old Lucretia Davidson in 1823. She was probably ill when she wrote "To a Star," making the references to Heaven and her soul rather poignant. I was inspired by the way she was able to precisely characterize the wonderment and awe we all feel when we gaze at the stars. I wanted to capture her sense of joy and to have my music embody the mystery of the heavens and our own yearnings to soar when our "imprisoned souls" are freed.
