Commissioned by Orchestra Nashville, conducted by Paul Gambill, "Overture for Strings" is scored for string orchestra and electric violin solo. This approximately 6 minute work was premiered on November 24, 2007, at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Nashville, TN, and plays with the idea of shifting rhythmic centers while exploring a melodic dialogue between the various string sections.
