This work is influenced by the folk-inspired works of Bartok, particularly his use of alternative scales (such as the octatonic), and the textures created in his string quartets. This piece's title refers to its two main 'axes' on C and F sharp (almost as tonic and dominant poles) in the work's employment of the octatonic scale. The piece is highly accessible and is appropriate for most standards of string player, including students and the more advanced. This document is the full score only.
