This work is based on the sculpture 'Two Forms, Divided Circle' by Barbara Hepworth (1970) which is displayed in Dulwich Park, South London. The piece rotates, varies and manipulates a row of pitches that reoccur in various guises (melodically and harmonically). A variety of timbres are explored across the whole range of the instrument, in a structure that literally comes full circle in the final section. The work is fairly accessible and is appropriate for high standard marimba players, including advanced performers and professionals.
